The Mass readings have something to say

Zac Johnson · April 17, 2026

Most of us listen to the readings at Mass and then the day moves on. Sometimes they're confusing. More often, they're just not given the time they deserve.

We're in the second week of Easter. The Church isn't rushing past the Resurrection. She's walking us, day by day, through the first Easter season as the Apostles lived it, and what she's showing us is uncomfortable. These men didn't secretly incorporate Jesus into their existing lives. They turned their lives over entirely. They upended everything for a mission. They were beaten for it and called it a privilege. They let the Resurrection do what it's meant to do: change everything.

Two thousand years later, that's the call being handed to us, right now, in the readings at every Mass.

In Truthly, you can read each day's readings at your own pace, get a summary of what's happening and why it matters, and ask whatever questions come to mind. Open the app and tap the book icon in the top-right corner.

The question the readings are asking is simple: are you all in?
